DuctPod

  • Fan assisted chimney duct system exhausts heat from up to 3 cabinets directly to CRAC return
  • Configurable and scalable cooling from 4 kW up to 30 kW per cabinet
  • Variable speed fans are pressure controlled to adjust to load for maximum efficiency

DuctPod is an integrated row of cabinets with direct ducting to return plenum

The DuctPod is a scalable integrated solution featuring cabinets, thermal management, power and monitoring. OpenGate fan-assisted chimney ducts can be fitted with transition plenums across multiple cabinets to allow for extraction of up to 30 kW of heat load. The ducts connect to the ceiling plenum or duct system to return air directly back to the CRAC units. The variable speed fans monitor the pressure inside the cabinet to adjust speeds to match heat load. Removing the heat to the ceiling plenum means that CRAC units do not have to work harder to bring down the the higher temperatures created by server exhaust. Without the strain of cooling, set points can be increased to the temperature desired for server intake. For sites using economizers, that can mean more months of free cooling.

The DuctPod can be an integrated solution consisting of a row of two to 50 cabinets. It features extreme scalability with hot-swappable fan systems of 10, 20 and 30 kW. As loads increase, switch to higher capacity fan or add additional ducts. The transistion plenum can span as many as three cabinets so on duct can manage up to 10 kW per cabinet. Power distribution, access controls, cable managment, remote monitoring and management can all be integrated to a bundle solution.

The DuctPod can configured to manage up to 30 kW distributed across three cabinets

A DuctPod row can provide scalable cooling from 3 to 35 kW per cabinet

Features

  • DuctPod may be used on existing racks or new integrated cabinet rows
  • CRAC units do not work as hard because IT heat exhaust does not enter room
  • Hot return air is taken directly to CRAC units which further improves efficiency
  • Fan modules are hot-swappable for scalability and redundancy
  • Fan modules come in 10 kW, 20 kW and 30 kW models
  • DuctPod includes web-based, SNMP software to monitor temperature, fan speed and other environmentals
  • Set and recieve threshold alerts via software, BMS or NMS
  • Air-cooled solution does not require expense of chilled-water installation
  • DuctPod can be fully integrated solution for critical hardware including power, power distribution, monitoring and thermal management
