Containment Pods
Many new data centers are being designed for higher cooling efficiency by utilizing hot or cold aisle containment pods. These pods are engineered cabinet solutions with integrated aisle containement doors and ceiling panels. Containing the aisles prevents mixing of air between the cold aisle and hot aisle. This separation allows prevents the CRAC units from having to work harder to bring down the temperature in the room due to the server exhaust. It also helps ensure that warm air is returned to the CRAC unit which prevents short cycling and further increases efficiency. Containment Pods can be used with traditional raised-floor cooling or with in-row cooling modules.
